Deacon Body
Deacons serve the church and support the pastor in such a way as to promote, encourage and assist in meeting the spiritual and physical needs of our church body.
Mark 10:43-45
Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.
Per First Southern Baptist Church Constitution and By-laws — Qualifications for the office of Deacon for First Southern Baptist Church (FSBC):
Any person considered for the office of deacon in FSBC of Springerville must meet the qualifications found in Acts 6:1-7 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13; the emphasis being personal character in good standing both in the church and outside the church. An evaluation of such character should be examined before any man is called to serve as a deacon or ordained as a deacon. It is the interpretation of this church that the statement, "husband of one wife," means that no man should be called ordained as a deacon in this church who been divorced or whose wife has been divorced. A deacon candidate should exhibit a sense of call to serve in the deacon ministry.
Personnel Committee
The personnel committee assists the church and makes recommendations in matters related to employed personnel, to promote the growth of the church through effective personnel practices using Christian principles and sound business procedures.
Its work includes such areas as determining staff need, employment, salaries, benefits, discipline, termination and personnel services.
This committee is responsible to the church and works under the leadership and direction of the pastor and/or deacon body. Any recommendations will be presented to the church council for discussion before bringing it to the church on a regular business meeting.
Stewardship Committee
The stewardship committee is responsible for preparing a proposed budget for the new fiscal year. The budget is then presented to the church for a vote. The committee also prepares monthly reports and keeps the membership informed at all times as to the financial standing of the church in regards to receipts and disbursements. The committee must abide by the guidelines set forth in the church constitution and the church operations manual.
The stewardship committee prayerfully seeks the Lord's heart, His word and wise counsel to determine how to manage the resources given to the church and to further His kingdom. We the stewardship committee desire to help our pastor, leaders and church members to be faithful with all God's resources through disciplined giving practice with their time, talents, treasures and testimony.
